DAZN

Challenge:

To build and support a comprehensive live sports graphics and data system for DAZN servicing its production hubs in the UK, Germany and Japan.

Solution:

Described by some as "the Netflix of sports", DAZN is an ambitious, disruptive OTT streaming service with a global footprint and premium sports rights like English Premier League, NFL and MotoGP.

It launched in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Japan in August 2016 and has since established itself in Canada, Italy, USA, Spain and Brazil with more territories on its radar for 2021.

RCS has been DAZN's graphics, data and innovation partner since before its launch and has been an integral part of its graphics success. In 2016, RCS built and deployed a graphics package focused on delivering fast, comprehensive soccer data via its bespoke cloud-based data management service, RCS Foundation. RCS also used custom control applications to help DAZN solve automation and remote production challenges including enabling its playout team to trigger automated carousels of data-driven match graphics without relying on specialist graphics operators.

As part of a global DAZN rebrand in 2017, RCS delivered DAZN Match Central, an automated scores and statistics channel designed and built using the Singular.live platform and powered by Foundation which harnesses data from multiple data providers and social media platforms.

RCS has delivered innovative multi-screen video, graphics and data solutions to DAZN for its soccer and MotoGP coverage in Japan, Germany, Italy and Spain. GoalZone is a fast-paced live show that uses RCS technology and an intuitive control application to bounce between up to twelve concurrent matches ensuring viewers can watch every goal as it goes in as well as keeping across latest scores and match statistics. MotoGPZone presents the main race feed alongside complementary additional live cameras, social media, Opta editorial and timing data.

In 2020, DAZN refreshed its look and feel and pivoted its data philosophy to accentuate storytelling and player metrics. RCS expanded its portfolio of interfaced graphics across soccer, baseball, basketball, football and hockey thus providing DAZN with the tools to maximise both production efficiency and audience engagement. RCS also provides round-the-clock remote support, on-site training and technology consultancy.

Conclusion:

RCS provides DAZN with a rock solid real-time graphics and data solution in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese and the support services to ensure DAZN production.
